We draw on top notch professors from schools such as Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Beeson Divinity, Covenant Theological Seminary, and Southern Seminary, as well as local minds from Indiana University. Upcoming Seminar: The Lost World of Genesis 1, with Dr. John Walton
Dates: Friday, April 5th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm & Saturday, April 6th from 9:00am to Noon.
Dr. Walton’s recent book, The Lost World of Genesis One (2009), has made an important contribution to the ongoing debate about the relationship of Genesis to scientific theories about the origins of the cosmos. Dr. Walton will be joining us to explore the ancient cosmologies that shaped the Biblical writers understanding of their world and think through cultural ideas that lay behind the Biblical texts. He argues, in part, that the Genesis accounts are more about functional origins than material origins.
Dr. Walton has written extensively on the Old Testament, including a commentary on the book of Genesis. He is also the author of the Essential Bible Companion, Covenant: God’s Purpose, God’s Plan and coauthor of the IVP Bible Background Commentary: Old Testament.
